What a great word. It evokes movement, emotion and a gentle sense of time and space. In our bodies we can imagine each and every part moving in a flowing pattern. Wind on water, gentle wave on the pool, breeze over the sheet on the washing line, raspberry through vanilla! I love using the word with our movement sessions. It encourages you to not just focus on start and finish position, but more about the journey, how a movement spreads through the body and structures. How you "ripple" your body to change shape. Ripple evokes the movement and importantly how it feels, and how it makes you feel. A fantastic example is how we teach the "cat" movement. The cue to "ripple" along your spine, gets you to feel the change through the whole spine, and how you can explore your change of shape.
Think more about how you get from one shape to another with all body parts.
Ripple and Flow.
